File Gateways & PCL Spooler

FaxCore File Gateways monitor network directories and FTP folders, allowing ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epic, AS/400) and legacy applications to drop print files and control files for automated fax processing.

Out-of-the-Box Supported Gateways

  • Control File Gateway: Pairs a text control file (.ctl) with attached documents.
  • Embedded Codes Gateway: Scans plain text documents for inline ^[...^] commands.
  • Embedded Codes for PCL: Extracts commands embedded inside HP PCL5/PCL6 print streams.
  • Embedded Codes for PDF: Extracts metadata before the binary %PDF header.
  • MFP / Scanner Gateways: Dedicated connectors for HP Digital Sender, Xerox, and Fuji Xerox.
  • ERP Connectors: Dedicated SAP and Oracle connectors.

Directory Monitor & Gateway Service

The Directory Monitor operates through the Windows Service: FXC6.FileGateway.

Configuration is maintained in:

C:\Faxcore\svc.filegateway\GatewayAgent.exe.config

FaxCore PCL Print Spooler Service

The FaxCore PCL Print Spooler (FXC6.PCLPrintSpooler) captures raw network print streams over TCP/IP port 9100, parses embedded routing codes, and submits faxes without requiring file exports.

Installation & Client Setup

  1. Run FaxCorePCLPrintSpooler.msi on the FaxCore server to install the service.
  2. Ensure embeddedCodesPcl is enabled (value="1") in GatewayAgent.exe.config.
  3. On client workstations:
    • Add a new printer using a Standard TCP/IP Port pointing to the FaxCore server IP (Port 9100 Raw).
    • Install the standard HP LaserJet 4000 PCL driver.
    • Name the printer FaxCore PCL Printer.
  4. Any PCL document printed to this queue containing ^[D...^] codes is automatically delivered as a fax.
