A new report conducted by Javelin Strategy and Research revealed that 30 percent of patients would leave their healthcare provider if a data breach occurred. Twenty-four percent of respondents said they would find a new bank if their data was compromised.
"I think the straw breaking the camel's back is customers now in droves are being inconvenienced [by breaches]. They never thought it could happen to them," explained Javelin senior analyst Al Pascual, according to Dark Reading. Now, they think 'This can happen to me.''
Because healthcare providers and financial institutions deal with so much sensitive personal information, they are exposed to a greater threat of data breaches than other organizations. One way to combat data loss is securing the methods by which documents and records are sent. Fax over IP is a reliable cloud healthcare solution for enterprises that send faxes to their clients, because the delivery process is more secure than traditional methods.
FoIP services provider FaxCore employs an encryption and security strategy created by the National Security Agency to transmit data, so faxed information is secure while in transit. A document's content is sent to a secure data center and stored there until the message is received, at which time it is deleted permanently from the server, meaning sensitive information will not fall victim to malicious activity. FaxCore's process also ensures that an organization in the financial or healthcare sector can meet all regulatory compliance standards.
While transmitted data is destroyed from outside servers once the message reaches its destination, all faxed information is stored on a company's personal FaxCore server, meaning sent documents can be searched through and filed away easily and at low cost.
