Operating a business these days requires a lot of documentation. Many companies choose to utilize email in order to complete this function, but this mode of communication certainly isn't perfect. Email is notorious for not being as safe as faxing for multiple reasons.

The most recent event underscoring the risky nature of email has to do with the CIA director's account getting hacked. A person who has yet to be named gained access to the director's account through social engineering. A Wired account of the deed stated that the hacker simply called Verizon claiming to be a technician working on the director's account. Once this criminal convinced Verizon of this false identity, the hacker received information from them that allowed him to reset the password on the director's email account.

Although the email in question wasn't the director's work-related account, this event shows that email simply isn't safe. Faxing is much more better suited than email at keeping cyber criminals like this at bay.

That being said, faxing can sometimes be a drag on efficiency. Having to constantly check the machine takes precious time away from work-related duties, and it's why many businesses are choosing to implement a fax over IP server in the workplace to increase business efficiency.

"FoIP provides the security of faxing."

FoIP is just faster

FoIP is one of those amazing innovations that takes the best qualities of one technology and combines them with the best of another. In this case, FoIP provides the security of faxing with the convenience of email. Faxes sent to a facility can be quickly picked up by that businesses email.

This means that missing a fax because someone forgot to check the machine is no longer an option. The fax is sent directly to an email account, and can be responded to directly via that email. Regular faxing might be secure, but it simply doesn't afford the same level of convenience and efficiency that a fax over IP server does.

This combining of services is being seen in the marketplace as well. Research and Markets conducted a study on the matter and found that faxing over the Internet is becoming extremely popular. The report stated that in 2017, the computer-based fax market is expected to be worth as much as $455 million
